Artist research-
Irving Penn born June 16, 1917 – October 7, 2009 was an American photographer known for his fashion photography portraits and still life. Penn's career included work at Vogue magazine and independent advertising work for clients including Issey Miyake and Clinque. His work has been exhibited internationally and continues to inform the art of photography. Best known for his fashion photography, Penn's repertoire also includes portraits of creative greats; ethnographic photographs from around the world; modernist still lifes of food, bones, bottles, metal, and found objects; and photographic travel essays.
Penn was among the first photographers to pose subjects against a simple grey or white backdrop and he effectively used this simplicity.Expanding his austere studio surroundings, Penn constructed a set of upright angled backdrops, to form a stark, acute corner.

AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.
My idea for recording form was to capture expressions and parts of the human body in action. By looking at Irving Penns work I tried to look at features like eyes, hands and legs to capture the beauty within form.

AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.
I used a Canon DSLR for these photos are tried to capture the illusion of tone. I then decided to edit my best images in Photoshop and create a stronger composition of images by adjusting the exposure, brightness and Vibrance to really make certain features of the face stand out.
AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
I believe that I have produced a strong series of final images and that they have really identified the true meaning of form. I intend on trying to improve my editing.
